Automated shirt ironing
Finally, someone has invented a machine to automate my absolute least favorite chore: ironing shirts.
Slip a damp shirt onto the Siemens Dressman mannequin-thing and Dressman's ballon skin fills with hot air, pulling out the wrinkles and drying the shirt.
Trouble is, the thing costs about US$1,000 and uses double the power of a traditional iron. And it's huge. So for now I'll stick with that chemical wrinkle-remover spray that will probably make my children mutants. But give it a few market cycles and the Dressman might be ready for prime time.
More details at The New Scientist.
